چکیده

For the Schumacher model and Adachi–Sato model, which are effective physical models of wind instruments, present study introduces a more precise sound field expression using three-dimensional wave equation, instead one-dimensional analytical solutions instrument bore. The around bell section is expressed by normally differentiated Kirchhoff–Huygens formula, then boundary element method applied to numerically analyze formula. remaining inside tube analyzed with conventional transfer matrix approach, two fields coupled correctly, thereby modeling total acoustic behavior instrument. improved analysis combined accomplish synthesis. Trial numerical calculations demonstrate that developed in synthesis clarinet trumpet, involving characteristics their radiated sound.

Digital Sound Synthesis of Brass Instruments by Physical Modeling

The Functional Transformation Method (FTM) is an established method for sound synthesis by physical modeling, which has proven its feasibility so far by the application to strings and membranes. Based on integral transformations, it provides a discrete solution for continuous physical problems given in form of initialboundary-value problems. This paper extends the range of applications of the F...

Calculation of three-dimensional electromagnetic fields involving laminar eddy currents

The formulation of a method to solve steady-state electromagnetic field problems involving laminar eddy currents is described. Iron nonlinearity is included. The formulation is implemented using finite elements and the problems associated with the solution of the resulting nonlinear equations discussed. Experiments with a Newton-Raphson iteration and modifications to it are described and a best...

Three-Dimensional Wind Simulation

A method for numerically simulating a three-dimensional field of turbulent windspeed (the “Sandia method”) for use in the aerodynamic and structural analyses of wind turbines is presented. The required inputs are single point power spectral densities (PSDs) and the coherence function. Suggestions for appropriate inputs and an example calculation are included. The simulation method is used to ob...

Explorations of Wind Instruments Using Digital Signal Processing and Physical Modeling Techniques

In this paper we present a systematic approach to measure the acoustical behavior of tubes and wind instruments using digital signal processing techniques. This approach is related to physical modeling with digital waveguides and the measurement results may be used to calibrate such sound synthesis models. The focus of this study is on the linearly behaving portions of wind instruments. INTRODU...
